Moreno Valley's Enduring Commitment to Equality and Community Progress

Drawing inspiration from Susan B. Anthony, the city champions civic leadership and inclusivity.

In 1872, Susan B. Anthony cast a ballot in defiance of the law, igniting a movement for women's rights and equality.

Her act of perseverance resonates deeply with the spirit of Moreno Valley, a community that continually transforms challenges into opportunities.

Anthony's unwavering commitment to justice mirrors the city's dedication to fostering civic leadership and inclusivity.

Recent initiatives underscore this commitment.

The city launched the "ADU for You" program, streamlining the construction of Accessory Dwelling Units to expand affordable housing options for residents.

Additionally, the Courtyards at Cottonwood project, comprising 112 energy-efficient affordable housing units, received the 2024 Sustainability Award from the Southern California Association of Governments.

These efforts reflect a community-driven approach to addressing housing needs and promoting sustainable development.

In the realm of public safety and infrastructure, Moreno Valley has made significant strides.

The city celebrated its 14th consecutive balanced budget and voter approval of Measure U, which funds additional deputies, firefighters, and community service officers.

Furthermore, the completion of Phase Three of the Pavement Rehabilitation Program, with an investment of over $60 million, has enhanced local roads, with Phase Four set to commence this fall.

These accomplishments demonstrate a steadfast commitment to the well-being and safety of the community.

Embracing the arts and cultural expression, Moreno Valley unveiled "Harmony in the Valley," the region's first augmented reality mural, earning the Best Arts Innovation Initiative Award.

This project exemplifies the city's dedication to fostering a vibrant arts scene and engaging the community in innovative ways.

When Anthony declared, "I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty," she spoke for all who challenge the status quo.

Moreno Valley continues to answer that call by creating new opportunities for women, youth, and first-generation business owners, shaping the region's future with a focus on equality and community development.

Her ballot wasn't counted, but its impact still adds up—right here, every November.
